What is BMM?

BMM is a Bachelor’s course in Mass Media and Journalism approved by Indian Universities. In simple words, Mass Media is a Medium that has the potential to reach a mass audience. It is a versatile group of digital media technologies that reach a mass audience via communication. The main goal of Mass Media is a transaction of information to its audience via various mediums. BMM Eligibility

  • To get admission for a BMM course, students must have passed class 12th or another equivalent exam with a minimum of 50% aggregate. From a recognized board or university.
  • Candidates having higher scores in class 12th exam are likely to get admissions easily, as many universities have entrance exams or some of them prefer to offer admissions based on the cut-off list.

BMM Admission process

Candidates willing to do Mass Media courses can submit their applications via an online or offline method to the respective colleges. Journalist:

A journalist is a news reporter who gathers information from his trusted sources or himself, analyzes the authenticity of the information, and presents it to the audience in an ethical, and unbiased manner. Journalists also report on current events, articles, social issues, and influence the public.

Editor:

An editor is a person who reads an article or stories and refines it. an editor is responsible for cross-checking the facts about information he is publishing. Editors are required in various industries such as Media houses, Magazines, Newspapers, Publication houses, and Book publications editors are also responsible for mistakes like Grammer, and punctuation.

Photojournalist:

A photojournalist is a skilled photographer who clicks photos, edits, and presents images as a visual story to convey their message. They are skilled at evaluating and communicating stories through Image format.

News Reporter:

News Reporters are also known as field journalists. Who gathers news and information and communicate it with their media house. Most of the time reporters report live events like sports matches or press conferences. News Reporters work at remote places to provide regional news, Interviews, and event information.

News Analyst:

News analysts analyses and check the authenticity of news collected from various sources and also known as newscasters. News Analysts sometimes act as News Anchor.

Columnist:

A columnist is a person who writes a series of articles in a newspaper or magazine daily or weekly basis. Columnist usually analyses any particular topic and put their opinions in front of the audience. Columns can be seen in newspapers, magazines, publications, and blogs it is a form of short summary of any topic. The columnist writes columns on trending topics, Politics, Regional Events, etc.

Correspondent:

A correspondent could be a journalist, commentator, reporter, an agent, or a freelancer, usually an on-field reporter who contributes his reports to a news channel or publication. Correspondents are not necessarily an employee of the news channel or publication.

Proofreader:

A proofreader is a person who assures clean and mistake proof content to the audience. proofreader cross-checks content for any grammatical, typing, spelling, syntax, and formatting errors and corrects it before publishing the content.

Freelance Writer:

Freelance writers are independent content creators and working at their own. Freelance writers produce any written content required for their clients and sell it to them.

Salary

Private Firm — The starting salary of a BMM degree holder could be in between Rupees 20,000–35,000 per Annum in a private firm.

Government Firm — Starting Salary offered by government firm is based on the pay scale and grade decided by govt. and varies in between Rupees 30,000–40,000 per Annum.
